Sheena's In a Goth Gang

(TFS)
Alice Dellal landed the cover of Metal Magazine and looks kickass. I guess she finally went for the full-on mohawk?

Who Knows Where the Time Goes?

Raquel Zimmerman is amazing in this month's Vogue Nippon- I almost didn't recognize her! Love the juxtaposition between the stark, architectural angles of the model's look, and the warm nostalgia of the seaside. Perfect.

Nina Simone's "Who Knows Where the Time Goes" beautifully compliments the editorial's atmosphere, particularly the last image:

Apply.

Glasser FINALLY came out with a music video for their first (only?) single, Apply. I've been listening to this nonstop since it was a free download on Urban Outfitters (I know, I know....), and I can't recommend them highly enough! The Afro-pop percussion, airy vocals, and buzzing bassline are an unlikely combination that somehow merge beautifully. Now, if they'd just release a full-length album.....

Like a Heifer to the Slaughter

Baby's on fire
Better throw her in the water
Look at her laughing
Like a heifer to the slaughter

Baby's on fire
And all the laughing boys are bitching
Waiting for photos
Oh the plot is so bewitching

Rescuers row row
Do your best to change the subject
Blow the wind blow blow
Lend some assistance to the object

Teenage Color

I'm currently loving the Valerie movement seeping out of France. In a scene centered around "Valerie" parties, bands like College and Anoraak propel the synth into the 21st century, creating a fresh sound that still retains echoes of the deliciously retro. The musical equivalent of soaring past neon lights in a very fast car, this is the sound of youth- fast, bright, and pulsing.

Who Will Love You? Who Will Fight?

Bon Iver is quickly becoming one of my favorite new musicians, with poignant lyrics and a crisp sound that makes you feel as though you're in a cabin the woods. I missed the chance to see him live a few months ago, and after seeing this, in which he appears to be amazing live, I'm regretting it even more:

Next time....
